Mountain Equipment.
Natural performance.
Minimal impact.
Celebrating the power of natural wool insulation in active performance wear.
Mountain Equipment’s approach to circular design and dedication to reducing carbon emissions by 6% annually, along with their use of transparent reporting and sustainable material selection, provides responsible consumers with a place to go for performance wear, made using natural materials, and which gives back to the planet.
“Choosing HD Wool® insulation instead of synthetic materials supports restorative practices that can significantly reduce carbon emissions. Wool, a natural and renewable material, offers unique carbon-sequestering benefits due to its biological composition and the land management practices associated with a fleece growth and production”.
HD Wool® Apparel Insulation
How wool helps to reduce carbon.
A wool fleece takes 6-12 months to grow, needing just grass, air, water and sunshine - simple and natural.
Thanks to wool’s unique keratin structure, it can store carbon absorbed from plants which sheep eat. It’s estimated that 1kg of clean wool stores 1.8kg of CO₂.
When farmers use regenerative land management practices like rotational grazing, minimising soil disturbance, and maintaining living roots, they enhance soil health and prevent carbon release into the atmosphere. These practices improve ecosystems but also increase soil’s ability to naturally sequester more carbon.
The Andola Jacket.
Innovation meets natural performance.
Featuring HD Wool® Active insulation, traceable through The Woolkeepers®, this jacket delivers exceptional temperature regulation and moisture management that lasts 95% longer than synthetic alternatives.
Warm, windproof and breathable, the Andola Jacket is an ideal choice for everything from cold weather mountaineering and ski-touring to winter hill walking. A soft and comfortable outer layer in better weather it also acts as a super warm mid-layer when worn under a shell in driving rain and snow.
Wool brings many benefits for technical clothing, including high levels of insulation, moisture resistance and breathability. With 100g/m2 fill throughout the Andola strikes an ideal balance with the warmth for freezing hill days and the low bulk and mobility for more technical use.
Lightweight 20-denier Nylon outer fabric is wind resistant, highly breathable and has mechanical stretch for excellent freedom of movement. It uses a fluorocarbon-free DWR treatment.
This Mountain fit gives room to move and layer without excess fabric and there’s a protective insulated Mountain Hood that means you won’t need to reach for your shell as soon as the wind picks up.
