Welsh mountain sheep have evolved to be extremely hardy with an ability to thrive in harsh environments, such as rugged uplands. This breed graze efficiently on rough pastures and can be used in rotational grazing to help restore lowland areas – above and below the ground.

Welsh mountain wool is coarse in texture and often contains kemp (short, coarse hairs).
